Information literacy is a huge topic, so to get a handle on it we are going to one of the best sources: the Association of College and Research Libraries. They have a wonderful resource, the “Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education” that both librarians and professors look to for guidance on understanding and teaching information literacy. But the Framework is for students too – while some of the content may seem abstract, we’ll use this discussion to work through it.
Here’s what you’ll do:
Read the Framework. You can access it online here (Links to an external site.). You can read it as a PDF here: Information Literacy Framework.pdf Download Information Literacy Framework.pdf
Identify two “frames” and post about each one, explaining what it means and how it can help you develop as a information literature student.(10 points for each frame)
Respond to two classmates by asking questions, answering questions, sharing examples, or contributing anything that can help us make sense of this framework. (2.5 points for each thoughtful response)
